Australian new car market posted a tiny fall during 2014 due to fewer registrations of the compact and the traditional pickups. 3 of the 4 largest car makers reduced their sales, only Hyundai-Kia gained market share. FCA was the best performer of the top 10 thanks to the outstanding results of Jeep brand, up 37% thanks to the Cherokee model. This brand counted for more than 70% of the group’s sales in Australia. Actually Jeep had a wonderful performance in Australian SUV segment beating Mitsubishi, Mazda, Hyundai and Holden, and jumping from place #7 in 2013 to the third one in 2014, right behind Nissan and Toyota. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was FCA’s absolute best-selling nameplate while it was the country’s best-selling large SUV. Fiat and Alfa Romeo had also important growths thanks to the new importer.
