Maserati Quattroporte or Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Last week Mercedes-Benz released the first official pictures of its new flagship: the 2014 S-Class. This car has been always the referent in the segment and this time Mercedes decided to go a bit further in the segment. After Maybach’s disaster, Mercedes run out of an ultra luxury sedan to compete with Bentley Mulsanne and Rolls-Royce Phantom/Ghost. That’s why in this generation, the S-Class became larger and even more luxury, with some details that come directly from this kind of cars. F-Segment is composed of all those big sedans larger than 5 meters used for representation purposes. The segment includes 3 sub-segments: the sporty ones, the regular ones, and the ultra-luxury ones. In the first group we can find the Maserati Quattroporte, Porsche Panamera, and Aston Martin Rapide. In the second group we can find the BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, Jaguar XJ, and the Lexus LS. Finally, in the third group there are the Bentley Mulsanne/Flying Spur, and Rolls-Royce Ghost/Phantom. The new Mercedes could be positioned between the second and third group. Even if it is not a direct rival of the new Maserati Quattroporte, its presentation makes me compare the Mercedes against the beautiful Italian. Considering their differences and their targets (someone that buys the Maserati would never consider the S-Class, and vice versa), which one do you like more?
