The Volkswagen ID.3 is already Europe’s third bestselling EV

The EV revolution if finally happening in Europe and Volkswagen, the biggest maker there, is playing a key role. This is the main conclusion from the latest data released by JATO Dynamics, that shows a strong growth in demand for pure electric cars in September. Among the protagonists last month, the Volkswagen ID.3 already hit the top 3 in Europe.

Volkswagen’s new electric car seems to be a real success, considering that its deliveries started in August and availability is still limited in some markets. A total of 8,544 units of the Volkswagen ID.3 were registered in September 2020, allowing this model to become Europe’s third best-selling EV, only behind the Tesla Model 3 and Renault Zoe.

The good results of the ID.3 allowed Volkswagen Group to lead the pure electric market and outsell Tesla. The German maker posted a 21.4% market share against 20.6% of Tesla, 16% of Renault-Nissan, and 14.6% of Hyundai-Kia.

With only one month on sale, the Volkswagen ID.3 is already allowing VW Group to top the ranking of a segment that is set to change the whole industry. It is just the beginning.
